Joe and Susie’s entrepreneurial background comes from a strong work ethic realized at a very young age and by having the opportunity of working at the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahu, while attending school at Brigham Young University Hawaii Campus, Laie Hawaii.

Working in retail at the Center Joe specialized in Hawaiian / Polynesian Arts and Crafts and traveled Polynesia collecting native arts and crafts from throughout the islands to sell at the Cultural Center. In 1990 Joe & Susie decided to venture into their own retail stores and 18 years later are now concentrating on the manufacturer and wholesale distribution of a variety of product lines that can be found in major retailers in the Hawaiian Islands.

DBI-Hawaii under its Roadshow division, “South Seas” is the oldest and longest running “Roadshow” company doing business in Costco in Hawaii. The Roadshow concept was initiated in Hawaii over 15 years ago and has become a very popular concept for both Costco and the public. A “Roadshow” is a 14 day specialty show inside Costco or Sam’s Club Wholesale Warehouses showcasing new and exciting products for only a limited time. South Seas Roadshows are currently the longest running shows in Hawaii and include:

DBI-Hawaii is diversified and offers distribution services to small companies and artists in Hawaii looking to get their products into Hawaii’s retailers. Our mission statement is too provide a quality product at a fair price, while preserving the highest standards of professionalism and honesty in dealing with our fellowman. In 2001 DBI-Hawaii’s was awarded the Small Business Administration sponsored Filipino Chamber of Commerce “Entrepreneur of The Year Award” and in 2003 Susie de Leon Berardy was awarded by the Governor of the State of Hawaii, the “Filipino Businesswoman of the Year” award, sponsored by the Filipino Business Woman Association of Hawaii.
